Developer Information
Need to integrate SMS into a website, application or system? One of directSMS' APIs is your answer. The newly launched set of APIs (Application Programming Interface) allow software developers and system integrators to quickly and easily integrate the various features of our SMS gateway into their applications and/or systems.
Integration Options
HTTP: Lets client applications interact with the SMS gateway by sending (and receiving) HTTP/S requests and responses. This API should allow for the rapid development of lightweight, web based applications/clients.
PHP: Lets your PHP website communicate directly with the SMS gateway by making calls in PHP. Using the same technology that powers so many sites on the web. This API is built on the HTTP API.
SOAP: Allows client applications to interact with the SMS gateway using SOAP XML messages over HTTP or HTTPS. SOAP is the emerging defacto standard for the lightweight integration of systems developed in different languages, technologies and platforms.
To download one or more of the above APIs, including documentation and code samples, please check our downloads page for the latest versions of the various APIs.
The Costs
You are welcome to download one/more of the APIs detailed above for a 60 day free trial in order to evaluate its suitability in your solution. Once the free trial is over, you have two licencing options:
The first option is to pay a one-off API licencing fee of $110 (inc. GST) in order to continue using the API. This is a single seat licence, for use on one directSMS customer account.
The second option is to purchase a one-off royalty free enterprise licence for $220 (inc. GST). This is the approach to take if you are developing an application that will be distributed to multiple customers such as a desktop client. This allows your various customers to register and manage their own directSMS accounts to send/receive SMS without your direct involvement.
The above costs will be waived for bulk purchases of 5,000 SMS credits or more.
Please remember, you need to contact our support team at support@directsms.com.au in order to enable your user account for API use.
