House Call Doctor started using SMS when the company launched in April 2015.
The company provides urgent after-hours care to patients when their regular GPs are closed. As such, the business operates on all weeknights, weekends and 24 hours on public holidays. Due to the nature of the business, House Call Doctor needed a fast and effective means of communicating with patients.

Lisa Bourke, Marketing and Communications Manager, House Call Doctor, said that due to the company’s business model, an efficient and immediate communication channel with patients was a critical success factor.
“We also needed a way to successfully measure the performance and results of this communication,” said Lisa.
At launch, House Call Doctor was using another messaging service that didn’t provide the support and tracking information the business needed. “Our former provider’s console management system and reporting tools were simply not effective,” said Lisa. “So in mid 2016 we started looking for a new provider.”
